It's a structured, hands-on program that teaches employees, staff, and community members how to recognize the warning signs of an active violence situation, respond immediately and effectively, and provide critical first aid in the minutes before emergency services arrive.

Unlike a 20-minute online course or a generic "Run, Hide, Fight" handout, AVIRT is taught by trained instructors with real-world security and emergency response backgrounds. At Counterpoint, our lead instructor brings 22 years of military service — including service in Operation Desert Shield and Storm and attachment to the 1st/19th Special Forces Group — to every class.

This isn't a checkbox exercise. It's the training that gives your team a real chance.

What AVIRT Training Covers

A Counterpoint AVIRT session covers three core areas:

1. Recognition How to identify behavioral warning signs before an incident occurs — escalating aggression, threatening language, unusual fixation. Early recognition is the most powerful prevention tool available.

2. Immediate Response What to do the moment a threat becomes active. Evacuation routes, shelter-in-place decisions, communication under stress, and how to act when seconds matter. Participants leave knowing exactly what their role is — not guessing.

3. Stop the Bleed Gunshot wounds and trauma injuries are survivable if bleeding is controlled in the first few minutes. AVIRT includes hands-on stop-the-bleed instruction so participants can provide immediate care until paramedics arrive.

HSI-Certified First Aid, CPR, and AED Training

Counterpoint is also an HSI-certified training center offering First Aid, CPR, and AED certification. Class size is limited to 12 students for hands-on practice. This training pairs directly with AVIRT — the same mindset of immediate, practical response applied to medical emergencies.
